Student Council Retreat 2008
The Student Council Retreat was something I was not really looking forward to. To my surprise, it was more fun than I had thought it would be. We started off with a couple of songs and a short sermon, then played a few crazy games as an icebreaker. After that we broke up into our committees for a while and talked about our vision, mission, etc. A SCAVENGER HUNT began at 9pm, and it was really, really, really fun! We had a list of things we had to do (and take a picture of, as proof) and a list of objects we had to find and photograph, and we were supposed to finish as many on the list as possible in an hour. They were hilarious and way out, and we had to do things like get a committee member into a tree, find a 'secret message' on the bottom of a random rock somewhere in the WHOLE SCHOOL, crack codes and break into lockers, and drink a disgusting-tasting spicy vegetable drink. My committee tied for third place, out of 6 teams, but we had LOTS of fun doing it. Then we had more committee meetings and finally slept at midnight.
I was awoken by a hand on my shoulder gently shaking me at 6:30am. I summed up my emotions in a decidedly hostile grunt, then turned over and went back to my peaceful slumber, ignoring our supervisor's cheery, "Rise and shine! Wake up!" By 7am we began devotions, then played a few more games and did our committee presentations before wrapping everything up with another song and prayer.
It was pretty great!
